About Vanessa Swann
I specialise in helping not for profit organisations with organisational development and change management, including governance, strategic business planning, income generation, stakeholder engagement and communication. As well as working on organisational briefs, I provide personal mentoring and coaching to CEOs and managers. Organisational: Typically, my organisational work involves evaluation of organisations, making recommendations for improved effectiveness; capacity building, turnaround and change management; designing and conducting processes for building agreement about what steps are needed for a change process and establishing the momentum to see these steps through. This can involve working with the whole client system, looking at the organisation ‘in the round’ and facilitating discussions with a range of people.Mentoring: Both mentoring and coaching involve a one-to-one relationship between an individual and a trusted advisor. The distinction between the two is often blurred and closely linked, although they are different in aim and purpose when used for professional and personal development. The main variation is that although coaching is about supporting leaders to further investigate their ideas, mentoring involves a higher involvement and input from the mentor. This is where I come in. Typically, I have been in the same or similar position as the mentee and can work collaboratively and proactively with you over a period of time to realise your personal and organisational goals. My background:I have been consulting for 10 years in-house and independently and have over 25 years’ experience of working in the charity sector as a social enterprise practitioner, senior manager and trustee. I am a former CEO of a major arts charity and have a proven record of successfully starting up, growing and expanding arts, charity and social enterprise organisations, including turnaround, investment and enterprise development. I like to use my practical experience of transformation processes to support other charities, and their people, to thrive and succeed.
Listed skills include Social Enterprise, Charities, Fundraising, Strategy, and 25 others.
