Designed the course syllabi and taught the “Gender and Media” class offered through the Communication department at Concordia University in the fall semester 2014.- Description: It begins with an overview of how gender is socially constructed and traces the various ways in which media affirm heteronormativity by reinforcing normative or stereotypical representations of masculinity and femininity. In relation to gender, the course includes an examination of intersecting identities as we think through some of the interlocking influences of gender, race, class, age, sexuality, etc.

- Designed course syllabi and taught the “Special Topics” class offered through the Communication department at Concordia University in the winter semester 2014.- Description: This course will be examining the development of portraiture, not in its entirety, but as a means of understanding more generally how the body becomes figured as an image, and for whom. We will begin by examining the various representational conventions of portraiture and the ways in which these conventions have emerged in relationship to such locations and contexts as – the police commissariat, the hospital, the ethnographic field, the exotic landscape, the photo studio, the home, and the urban landscape (How is the subject figured before the camera?). The object, for us as a class, will be to understand the politics of representation involved in the various modes and dimensions of portraiture.
