I have worked in the non-profit domestic violence field for the last eighteen years. Starting out as Training Program Director for a 12 month residential program for women, I then went on to become Shelter Director for a non-profit women’s shelter. In 2003, I obtained a position with Fayette County Council on Domestic Violence d/b/a Promise Place as their project coordinator – helping to expand services currently being provided by the agency to 3 other counties and so helping grow the program as a whole. With this position I found my passion for developing programs and implementing new initiatives. In 2007 I took on the position as Shelter Director resulting in the opening of the Griffin Judicial Circuit's first shelter. As Executive Director for Promise Place, I was responsible for sustaining the agency as a reputable, thriving organization. I worked collaboratively with our organization's staff, board, community advocates and leaders, other civil rights and community based organizations to ensure the achievement of Promise Place's mission through successful implementation of our programs, fundraising initiatives, and strategic plan. I am currently serving as Executive Director of Tahirih's Atlanta office. The Tahirih Justice Center is a national, nonprofit organization that serves women, girls, and other immigrant survivors fleeing gender-based violence. Our interdisciplinary, trauma-informed model of service combines free legal and social services with bridge-building policy advocacy and research-based training and education.
