Middle East

For more than 22 years prior to retiring in April 2022, I led the Strategy and Transactions practice at EY, Kuwait as a Director and then as a Partner and led multiple strategy and transaction engagements across teh Middle East and North Africal., with responsibility for business development, accounts management, engagement delivery and talent development. Over a career spanning three and half decades, I led multiple engagements covering business and asset valuations, M&A transactions, transaction evaluations and due diligence, commercial and financial viability assessment, strategy facilitation and formulation and infrastructure advisory acorss the MENA region and advised boards and C-suite executives on a multitude of strategic matters.I have significant expertise in valuations and have led business valuation, tangible and intangible assets valuation, purchase price allocation, asset and goodwill impairment and portfolio evaluation engagements for both private and public sector clients across Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain. Oman and Egypt, spanning a large number of industries and sectors.For about a decade, I also led the Valuation, Modeling and Economics practice covering Kuwait, Qatar and Oman. For four years, I was also the Valuation, Modeling and Economics practice leader of EY Middle East and North Africa.

Kuwait

Progressed through multiple positions from Senior Consultant to Executive Manager, focusing initially on Kuwait-based clients and then gradually growing into a more regional role to cover the larger Middle East and North Africa region. During the initial years, I advised clients on Strategy, People and Process related solutions, helping them improve business performance through the design and implementation of strategic initiatives. My clients during these initial years were mainly in the Energy, Financial Services, Real Estate and Retail and Distribution sectors and my focus areas mainly included business process reengineering and improvement, business strategy, organization design and cost management..Subsequently, I was asked to set up and lead EY's Transaction Advisory (now Strategy and Transactions) Services practice in Kuwait. In addition to growing the practice from a two-person team to a 28 persons team, I also served a large number of clients by providing solutions and services covering the full transaction life cycle, including strategic and business planning, portfolio optimization, exit readiness, M&A (business acquisitions and divestiture), privatization, business and asset valuation, transaction evaluation and diligence, market and financial viability assessment, thus covering the entire capital agenda of the clients.

I led a team of consultants in the financial advisory and performance improvement group, advising private sector clients across multiple industries on strategy development and reviews, business process improvement, organization design, performance management and activity based cost management / zero-based budgeting. Clients included large conglomerates as well as businesses in manufacturing. leasing, retail and services sectors.

I was working as an Executive Assistant to Director (Finance), assisting him in a variey of tasks including planning and budgeting, review of operating and capital expenditure proposals, negotations with international banks for USD borrowings, etc.
