In my third internship at Nutanix (the first as a graduate, and first from the US), I worked with the Data Lens team. Nutanix Data Lens is a data management and governance tool that allows customers with a storage platform to view audit logs, view storage metadata, detect anomalies, and protect against ransomware attacks. My project involved experimenting whether the products capabilities could be extended to work for customer's who use AWS S3 for storage.Primarily my work involved designing and implementing the infrastructure required to fetch logging events for S3 buckets to our systems, and write scripts to perform analysis operations on this data. Furthermore, another aspect of my project involved analyzing the workflow for onboarding newly created customer buckets in the system. The final leg of the project involved designing a method to consume inventory data produced by S3, to populate the object metadata in our systems.During the internship, Nutanix organized an internal hackathon for interns. As part of this hackathon, my team designed a way to use Machine Learning and other predictive models to identify anomalous user behavior in File Analytics (storage analytics platform for Nutanix Files). To achieve this we used the SESD detector along with a CNN-based encoder to identify anomalous behavior historically and in real time.
