Environmental Specialist - Planning
Current• Support central region operations and maintenance (O&M) projects, completing environmental checklists (EC) and environmental protection plans (EPP), procuring permits and approvals from the Oil and Gas Commission (OGC) and Canada Energy Regulator (CER), coordinate with TMEP and manage consultants when necessary;• Communicate mitigation practices and procedures based on EPP’s ensuring regulatory compliance and adherence with internal clients (Pipeline Maintenance, Pipeline Protection, Lands department, Indigenous Relations) and external partners (Consultants and Indigenous Contractors);• Review and provide opportunity to indigenous contractors and consultants within environmental aspects of the O&M projects;• Initiate birdnest/wildlife sweeps and heritage resource assessments prior to the commencement of fieldwork;• Coordinate environmental monitoring and inspection requirements for O&M projects, including the selection and management of consultants where required; • Coach and provide feedback based on inspections and adherence to EPP’s with internal TM representatives and external consultants and contractors;• Prepare and communicate program and project updates to the Sr. Advisor – Planning and other stakeholders as required;• Foster and develop positive working relationships with local regulatory agencies, landowners and affected stakeholders;• Work within the Environmental team providing technical support on the creation and maintenance of standards, procedures, and other guidance documentation;• Facilitate requirement gathering for the digitization of the vegetation management and environmental planning programs, assist with scope of work development, complete user acceptance testing, compile issues log, develop changes requests and provide end-user training; and• Provide environmental support to emergency response activities.
