Profile bio

About Venus Madden

I am a HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with a range of operational and strategic experience. My varied work roles have provided me with skills to work with stakeholders from diverse background. I leverage my expertise in coaching and consultation to guide large-scale changes through system process development and implementation. I have extensive experience in making timely and ethical decisions based on critically appraised evidence. I am committed to making sustainable changes, translating strategies into achievable and relevant tasks with different services and individuals. I have been a key speaker in several regional as well as national conferences. I am a guest lecturer delivering lectures focusing on strategic and everyday leadership. I volunteer for the ‘Inspiring the Future’ campaign and facilitate career coaching workshops at schools. Following a difficult personal lived experience, I applied and am currently serving my third term of office as a public governor at Southern Health Foundation NHS Trust. I work as a 'critical friend' to the Trust supporting them to make meaningful changes to the public. I believe that by sharing knowledge and experience, we can enable and empower others, in particular younger generations in their approach towards mental health, reducing stigma in society. In 2021 whilst homeschooling and holding down two part time jobs, I completed my MBA (senior leader apprenticeship) specialising in strategic and transformational changes. This has further developed my commercial acumen and theoretical knowledge which enhances my ability to make strategic business planning decisions. I have since registered with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), which required practical evidence of system wide leadership and team development. I have experience of workforce and performance management, which has involved skill mixing and streamlining services to maximise the skills of the workforce within rationalised budgets. I am able to build sustainable and meaningful relationships with people and communities (lived experienced) and colleagues from all levels quickly. I spend time to listen to others' stories focussing on 'What Matters To You'. I enjoy influencing the wider public with my compassion and experience. I share materials and information on coproduction, leadership, physical and mental wellbeing, education and small acts that we can all do to support our society.
