BarkeeperJeugd- En Muziekcentrum Kinky Star Jan 2015 - May 2019GhentYouth and Music Centre Kinky Star is a non-profit organisation which almost fully depends on volunteer work. Each year, it has over 300 bands playing on their tiny stage and counts on more than one honderd volunteers to do so. I loved bartending during these events. To be able to watch people enjoy music as well as having all the cliché conversations you experience as a bartender, but also learning how to deal with difficult customers... I learned an awful lot about sober and intoxicated human behaviour.

Auteur: Koen CaemaertTaal: NederlandsUitgever: Borgerhoff & LamberigtsISBN: 9789089318442Pagina's: 288

Social And Cultural Work InternFormaat Feb 2016 - May 2016Gent Area, BelgiumFormaat is the federation of Flemish youth clubs, they support over 400 youth clubs throughout Flanders. As an intern, my main occupation was an investigation about communication and visibility of youth clubs in an urban context. How are they supposed to get on the radar? What keeps people involved? How does volunteering work in a fast moving city? I ended up making a route to guide young volunteers to think about communication, visibility, branding in a different light and create awareness about the importance of them for your organisation. This route was completed with an interactive toolbox, with exercises, questions, tips and tools to increase their visibility and voice in a competitive urban environment. The route as well as the toolbox is used by Formaat to educate youth clubs about these topics. -
