Cancer Council ACT is a charity with a purpose: to reduce the incidence and impact of cancer in Canberra and our surrounding region. We do this through funding local research, providing cancer support and information, through our advocacy, and through our cancer prevention and education programs. We depend on the generosity of the community providing donations and supporting fundraising initiatives like Daffodil Day, Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, Relay for Life, The Longest Day and Do It For Cancer.Every dollar we raise in the ACT stays in the ACT. Playgroup Australia is a not-for-profit organisation, established in 1984 as the national representative body for playgroup organisations operating within a federated structure.As national CEO, I managed a $10M budget and had oversight of four federally funded programs. I provided leadership in a time of uncertainty, during a national strategic review of the Playgroup organisations around Australia.This was in the context of signing a new 5-year multi-million-dollar Commonwealth grant that is managed by the national office and delivered by the Playgroup Member entities, operating in their state and territory jurisdictions.

Founded by Ted Noffs at the Wayside Chapel in Sydney, Life Education has been empowering children and young people to make safer and healthier life choices through education in schools since 1979.As national CEO of a federated NFP model, I was responsible for:• Strategic and operational leadership, managing complex relations between a head office team of 12 and the state-based Affiliated Members of Life Education based in six jurisdictions.• Stewarding government relations and leading negotiations across two Commonwealth Departments (Health and Education) to set up a critical new $5M three-year funding agreement and develop the work plan for the national group.

I was a Board Member of UN Women Australia from November 2013 until reaching my maximum term in November 2019. I served as Company Secretary from 2016 - 2019, and was a member of the Nominations Committee throughout that time. I participated in the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW62) at the United Nations in New York in March 2018 and attended global National Committee meetings at UN Women's New York HQ.In November 2018 I joined another round of global National Committee meetings and participated in site visits to UN Women projects in Fiji including Markets for Change in Rakiraki and the women's accommodation at the Nasouri markets.

In July 2016, the YWCA organisations in Australia were at a critical moment in their history, with unprecedented alignment around a major national amalgamation. I successfully led the state and territory-based YWCAs to transition from separate entities into one entity with a single purpose. I dealt with high levels of complexity, uncertainty and multifaceted issues across different functions and jurisdictions; and conducted significant commercial and legal negotiations. As of 1 June 2018, the organisation became a single national entity, successfully merged by schemes of arrangement. The new YWCA Australia had combined assets in excess of $60M and more than 250 staff across 15 locations. I represented YWCA Australia as part of their official delegation at the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW62) at UN headquarters in New York in 2018.

Reporting to the CEO, I led the national Sustainability & Public Relations Team and was responsible for achieving growth in:• sustainable revenue through corporate partnerships, community and individual giving, philanthropic trusts & foundations, and• brand value through marketing and promotion, media and public relations, communications and government relations.I managed an $8M budget to achieve revenue growth in line with forecasts; increased net fundraising income by 57% and reduced the cost of fundraising by 13%. I was the custodian of an iconic Australian brand with 97% awareness and 94% trust. I contributed to Lifeline’s structural amalgamation project (42 Member entities at the time).

I was responsible for growing and diversifying the YWCA of Canberra’s revenue through business development, corporate sponsorship, philanthropic grants and individual donations; as well as marketing, media and communication. I established a Patron for the organisation: The Honourable Quentin Bryce AD CVO (Governor General at the time of engagement); launched a program of Corporate Friends and the YWCA of Canberra Gift Fund.

Managed the press coverage and publicity leveraging Cerrone’s win of a 1998 De Beers Diamonds International Award including marketing, public relations, traditional media and events.
