In June of 2021, I retired from public education after 30+ years and left the hybrid year in the rearview mirror. After a year of learning how to be retired and all the opportunities it opens up for anyone, I realized I wasn't ready to be completely work free and that I still have a lot to offer in the world of education. As luck with have it.... this past school year 22-23, I found myself working again with my school neighbor and friend - Sharon Messina. We started together, retired together, went back together as part-timers and have now re-retired together. Hopefully, here is where another chapter will begin.My longtime colleague and friend, Sharon Messina, and I started teaching together back in 1991. We have spent over 30 years together collaborating for the benefit of building and supporting the best teachers, secondary math program, lessons, assessments, and culture possible. We retired together in the pandemic era and have spent much of the last few months hearing about and experiencing some of the issues that educators are now facing.Knowing that teachers are overwhelmed, struggling, and leaving the profession has led Sharon and I to write our next chapter with a start-up called L&M Educative Consulting. As individuals, Sharon and I have unique strengths and areas of expertise. Together, we are a powerhouse, and we share a vision to work side by side with teachers and leaders to continue to make a difference in the world of education.We are excited to roll up our sleeves to support the "nextgen" educators.
