I have been at L'arche St. Louis for the past 6 years. Over the past six years I have worked with people with and without disabilities to help people live their daily lives as well as fostering an environment of inclusion and security. I have served in may different capacities during my time at L'arche. Some of the most notable years were the years that I served as House Leader. As House Leader I have worked with Doctors, Nurses, help coordinate trainings, created the schedule for 10+ employees, helped in the process of interviewing prospective assistants. I have helped foster an environment for assistants where they feel comfortable to speak about the struggles that they face as an assistant as well as the highlights of daily life. As a leader I have changed tremendously recognizing that the collective welfare of the people begins with the equal footing of all people involved and working together collaboratively is the best way to work together. Celebrating assistants as they seem fit and celebrating their Birthdays and Work anniversaries as well as Core Members. Core Member care and well being has always been a priority as well. Making Core Members the center of the conversation and the reason is one of the core principles of L'arche which I have always taken to heart. Helping coordinate Doctors visits, appointments, meetings, writing ISPs, meeting with care teams and helping draft Behavior Plans are all things that I have accomplished at my tenure at L'arche.

As a Jesuit Volunteer, I worked with the chronically homeless in Seattle, Washington for one year. While on the ground, I was able to be a woman with and for others. I set up events for the Residents of the Wintonia, every holiday, birthday, special event. I helped set up a clothing drive that lead to residents getting coats, clothes, and other necessities for winter and for Christmas. I helped take Residents to Doctors appointments, Social Security, to help navigate and fight for their benefits. I helped mourn many residents set up their funerals, burials, etc. I set up and coordinated many volunteers on site and trained them in order to best serve our Residents. I helped establish and maintain relationships with local Churches and sites for access to better opportunities. I helped Residents with job interviews. I took many trainings for Risk Management and De-Escelation trainings all through Catholic Charities in the Greater Seattle Area.

Working at the Creole Queen really gave me a sense of fulfillment and customer experience for many tourists. I met many people from various walks of life and was able to dutifully navigate these relationships. I worked with my co-workers to provide a happy and fun experience. I worked the Dinner Jazz cruise & the Battlefield day cruises. Working most holidays and weekends I found the beauty of hard work and determination that it takes hard work and determination to get far in life.

Working as the Desk Manager for the majority of my career at Loyola University : New Orleans I was able to have a great relationship with many students. Working with Residential Life gave me the flexibility to be open, flexible, willing to do the hard work, create the schedule, help in hiring and letting go, interviewing, managing pay roll, and many other skill sets.
