As a research assistant under Dr.Hilary Archbold, the genetics course coordinator at the University of Michigan, I am responsible for reviewing and captioning student-generated educational videos on topics in genetics. I am responsible for vetting these videos to ensure that they contain accurate information. In addition, I am responsible for building and maintaining the open-access website through which these videos are hosted. See the current version of the website at the link below.

As an undergraduate researcher at the C. Duan Lab at UofM, I worked independently on genotyping optimization and statistical consulting for our research. Additionally, I contributed to a publication on the role of mitochondrial metabolism in the cell quiescence-proliferation transition (DOI: 10.1073/pnas.2216310120).

As the president of the Philosophy Club at UofM, I was responsible for organizing club events, including coordinating guest speakers and setting agendas. I was joined by a team of 5 other dedicated philosophy majors and minors who strove to make philosophy open and engaging for all interested undergrads at UofM.

As a general tutor in the Academic Success Program in Michigan Athletics, I was responsible for helping student-athletes succeed in a number of STEM and humanities courses. I helped students develop good study habits and also explained particularly difficult concepts in various courses ranging over biochemistry, statistics, and writing/composition.

As a course leader for genetics (Bio 305) at the Science Learning Center, I was responsible for creating and vetting study materials for genetics study groups, mentoring other study group facilitators, and coordinating with genetics faculty to align study group and course curricula.

As a genetics (BIO 305) tutor in the SLC, I was responsible for working one-on-one with students to help them develop effective study strategies and to help explain difficult parts of the course material.

As a study group facilitator for the SLC, I was responsible for leading study groups in biochemistry (CHEM 351) and/or genetics (BIO 305) courses at UofM. This included preparing relevant worksheets and interactive learning activities, as well as moderating and facilitating discussions and learning between enrolled students.

I was the editor-in-chief of Meteorite, the undergraduate-led philosophy journal at the University of Michigan. As the editor-in-chief I was responsible for setting and enforcing all editing, publication, and conference deadlines. In this process I managed a team of around 20 editors. In addition, I helped review and select journal submissions to ensure acceptance of the highest-quality, academically rigorous undergraduate submissions. Also, I helped maintain our website (linked below).

I am the founder of Comet, an online seminar series in philosophy which met bi-monthly. I designed the series so that it would be accessible to those without a philosophy background, yet interesting and rigorous enough to engage my philosopher peers. I would invite UofM's Dr. David Baker and a guest philosopher (from UofM or otherwise) to join us in discussion about contemporary problems from a philosophical perspective. We covered topics such as:- What is art? Can videogames be considered art?- What does it mean to be alone? How has the 2020 pandemic altered our conception of loneliness, aloneness, and solitude?- How do we distinguish Self from Nonself? What is consciousness?- How do we define enhancement, achievement, cheating, etc. in both academic and athletic contexts?This was my first foray into making specialized topics/knowledge accessible to the general public, but so far it has been immensely rewarding. I later developed a modified version of this series into a podcast for my undergraduate thesis (an exploration of contemporary ethical issues in genetics).
