In my current role, I serve as the Customs Brokerage Supervisor, managing import documentation and U.S. Customs clearance for the Brokerage Department’s top client: Home Depot. I lead six staff in ensuring department goals and KPIs are met while driving teams to increase revenue month over month. Handling communications with clients and internal/external stakeholders, I ensure achievement of all customer requirements. Additionally, I manage team in clearing shipments on-time each week at a 99.5% accuracy rate, ensuring shipments are entered 48 hours after receiving documents and cleared 24 hours later.I oversee supply chain training to help branch staff stay current with global market trends and changes in U.S. Customs regulations. I’ve directed multiple projects to streamline processes and reduce time by creating less duplicate requests from brokerage team for compliant information.

In 2017, I was engaged as the On-Site Compliance Supervisor and tasked with partnering with Account Managers and top clients to drive startup of new projects while organizing reports and identifying ways to create more value-add services. During this time, I identified the need for two new on-site compliance specialist positions for Home Depot in order to enhance partnership and customer service. I hired, trained, and managed the two new positions. I also reorganized the department’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve the documentation of client specific data.Additionally, I researched Free Trade Agreements, Anti-Dumping and Countervailing duties, U.S. Customs rulings, and legal findings in order to optimize compliance and avoid fees or penalties. Additionally, I trained new employees on SOPs and documentation processes.

In my role as as an On-Site Compliance Specialist, I completed detailed and comprehensive daily and weekly U.S. Harmonized Tariff audit reports while maintaining expertise in U.S. Customs rulings, regulations, and HTSUS updates to drive compliance for client sites.During this time, I audited more than 1,000 products and tariffs each week and generated related reports. I also collected product information from Home Depot websites, systems, and publications to gain expertise on their goods. I provided direct feedback, reports, and compliance guidelines while serving on-site at Home Depot corporate office.

I was initially hired to work as a Customs Brokerage Agent, overseeing import documentation and customs clearance for 20+ international clients. In 2013, I was promoted to Team Lead, supervising seven staff members while supporting management team in setting department goals and projections on a weekly basis. While in this role, I was instrumental in opening new business opportunities for the company while developing lasting relationships and delivering strong customer service to all accounts. I also worked with government agencies such as FDA, EPA, USDA, and DOT to complete shipments on-time and according to client expectations.
