Immediately after qualifying as a Veterinary Surgeon from the RVC in 1994, I joined the team at Holmefield Vets as a new graduate assistant and gained experience working in mixed practice, but with a growing interest in small animal medicine and surgery.I also began to develop an interest in the management of the practice and gradually increased my involvement. Simultaneously, the practice grew and increased specialism within the profession led to the division of the parent practice into two new practices, one with responsibility for farm animal patients and the other continuing to provide the care for domestic pets, as Holmefield Veterinary Clinic Ltd. This provided me with the perfect opportunity to take the reins and I became the sole director in 2002.I initially continued in a very clinical role and thrived on the interaction with you, our clients and your pets, particularly within the consulting room environment but as the practice continued to grow, so did my management responsibility. This resulted in a conscious decision to recently step back from clinical work and devote my time to leading our dedicated team in our mission to deliver professional veterinary care that your pets would choose for themselves.And while the care of your pets remains the reason for our practice to exist, I believe that my role is also to ensure that you are equally well looked after for through communication and client service and that our team enjoy job satisfaction, stability and the continued joy of making a positive difference to the lives of animals in our care.
