About Vicki Ball

Born and raised in Swansea, South Wales and trained as a performer at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts before moving into TV casting and becoming Head of Casting for Mad Dog in Wales and South West. A passion for supporting new entrants and diversifying the TV industry led to roles managing Learning, Events and Networks for BAFTA Cymru and Cardiff University. Experienced leading community outreach projects with multiple partners as well as freelance workshop facilitation in schools and FE colleges. Currently Barry based and overseeing pan-UK projects for the ScreenSkills HETV Skills Fund including Trainee Finder and First Break. Ambitious to continue to pursue a career specializing in new entrant pathways and social inclusion.

Working closely with broadcasters, production companies and local partners to encourage, nurture and support individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds to explore a career in HETV, giving them the initial tools, knowledge and paid taster experiences of working in the industry. 2. Designing and managing the Careers Outreach programme for the HETV Skills Fund at ScreenSkills. Creating and implementing a strategic engagement plan to target schools and colleges across the UK to encourage young people from underrepresented and diverse communities to consider a future career in TV. Creating opportunities for HETV industry professionals to deliver regular inspirational sessions at schools and colleges about their own careers and jobs in TV.Key achievements:• Developing and launching a ScreenSkills Tik Tok channel in collaboration with internal comms and external agency Cowshed. Driving the development and launch of an initial HETV focused campaign burst.• Designing a HETV careers focused interactive workshop rolled out to 1500+ 12-18 year olds across the UK in year 1• Overseeing the management of 15 First Break programmes with productions based across the UK providing opportunities to over 100 individuals from lower socio-economic and underrepresented backgrounds.• Designing and overseeing the development and launch of the HETV Back to school initiative and HETV Skills Fund school careers roadshow in Bristol, Liverpool, Northern Ireland and Edinburgh.• Organising online and in-person youth forums with 100 young people across the UK to gather research into barriers to entry, trends and feedback on our plans
