I take on communication projects of all types and sizes. I am the person with experience who can help you map out a communication strategy to support your organisational objectives. When your team’s load is a suddenly a bit heavy, or when priorities shift and you need someone to step in or complete a project that's already underway, I can also help with this.I can lead teams, work within teams, and I’m great at getting on with things on my own. I am used to working within traditional project management frameworks, so I’m completely at home with the language of ‘project controls’, ‘risk management’, and ‘milestones’. I am not so comfortable with the language of 'can't'.I love getting a brief, putting a plan in place, and going about making it happen. Along the way, I value open communication with the people I’m working with.Depending on the scale and type of project, I work on an hourly, daily or fixed fee basis. These details are agreed at the beginning of a project. If I don’t think I’m the right person for the job, I’ll refer you to someone I know and trust who might be a better fit.

The Young and Well CRC is an Australian-based, international research centre established in July 2011. The Young and Well CRC unites young people with researchers, practitioners, innovators and policy-makers from over 75 partner organisations across the academic, corporate, government, non-profit and community sectors, to explore the role of technology in young people’s lives, and how it can be used to improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people aged 12 to 25.I was appointed Head of Communications of the Young and Well CRC following a seven-month secondment to the role from lead partner, the Inspire Foundation. I was responsible for critical aspects of the Young and Well CRC’s establishment. This included the design, development and delivery of the organisation’s communication strategy, with a focus on establishing the organisation’s corporate identity and positioning, and creating systems and processes to facilitate and promote the efficient development, delivery and uptake of the Young and Well CRC’s research outputs.

The Inspire Foundation is an Australian non-profit established in 1996 and is the organisation behind the world’s first online youth mental health service, ReachOut.com.I joined the Inspire Foundation on a 3-month contract to manage the official launch of ReachOut.com in March 1998. This was at a time when the internet was just emerging as an important source of information, long before Google, Facebook and the smartphone. Two days after the launch we received a message from a young woman to say that if it weren’t for ReachOut.com she wouldn’t be alive today.Fourteen years on I was still there, hooked on the internet’s potential to connect young people to services and to each other like never before. In many ways, I grew up with Inspire. I was there when I met my husband-to-be, had twin daughters, and then another daughter three years later. I went from full-time to part time, and eventually back to full-time again. I was fortunate to be able to adapt my role according to my capacity at various stages. My years with Inspire were fruitful and rewarding on all levels – and on both sides.
