Like many people who are passionate about their career, I find that I work at my best when faced with a fresh and exciting challenge. Having spent almost twenty years as an English teacher, during which time I have held several positions of increasing responsibility, culminating in the positions of Learning Leader and Associate Senior Leader. I am seeking a new and fresh challenge where the vision and values correspond entirely with my core teaching philosophy, driven by the sole purpose of improving students’ learning experiences and outcomes. In 2013-14, I completed the Teaching Leaders programme as graduate of the year. Furthermore, in the leadership positions I have held to date I have placed significant emphasis on encouraging staff to become more closely involved with Teaching and Learning CPD initiatives, several of which I have planned and successfully delivered myself.As Learning Leader, I designed, planned and implemented a bespoke thematic curriculum with literacy as the main driver. The success of my faculty, and its recognition by SLT and OFSTED, was a direct result of my leadership skills and my ability to motivate and enthuse a large team of professionals (many of whom were non-specialists) to deliver lessons based on a pedagogical philosophy of taking a hands-on and enthusiastic approach to teaching and creating a learning environment with empathy, mutual support and, above all, an inclusion of all students to make accelerated progress. I am committed to teaching excellence, especially in my own practice, something which is corroborated by the high levels of positive feedback that I receive from observations of my lessons; all of which have been graded good to outstanding. I am a highly successful teacher of English.I have been involved in teaching students at all years within the secondary range. At Key stage 4, I enjoy taking responsibility for all Key GCSE classes, including the challenges of students at A/A*.
