creating links is a non-profit project by a collective of art psychotherapists from different nations. Our team came together in order to create sustainable concepts that support communities with issues of displacement, trauma and difference. Building on a multicultural and interdisciplinary approach, we have developed tailored programmes to support professionals who work with displaced children and their families. The psychosocial needs of these young people can range from emotional and social problems to trauma symptoms. Our programmes include art-based techniques that can be used by both adults and children, and help transcend cultural and language barriers

Facilitating group art psychotherapy and 1:1 art therapy for adults experiencing difficulties in mental health and traversing difficult life events

During this placement in a small primary school, I facilitated individual psychodynamic art psychotherapy for children between the ages of 5 and 9.I was involved in assessing children alongside another art therapist, in order to attain a better understanding of the child's needs and what the appropriate intervention might be. I worked closely with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator and class teachers in order to provide informed and appropriate therapy. I was further involved with external local services who provided extra support for pupils.

I held a placement within two Child and Adolescent Mental Health clinics for six months where I facilitated art psychotherapy for children and adolescents.I conducted assessments and wrote reports following the mid and end points of work with clients, informing the relevant members of staff and professionals, such as GPs, with clients progress. Consulted with the relevant members of the multidisciplinary team to provide the best therapeutic care for my clients.Within this role I practiced individual art therapy and family art therapy.I also worked within a Looked After Children's team, providing art therapy for children and young people who are in care.Involved in multidisciplinary meetings regarding the future of the children who are in care, providing information to help the best decision to be made.Experience of working with an adolescent asylum seeker, which further developed my understanding of the asylum seeking process for a minor.
