Engaging with DCTA to organize and communicate with members, face to face and via flyers and electronic methods; consult with elected leaders and members regarding contract issues, possible grievances and membership issues within the local association; provide training and support to members and leaders; provide training and support to new UniServ Directors. Major Projects Include: DCTA/DPS Discipline Committee – made recommendations to BOE; Denver School Based Restorative Practices Project Leadership Team– collaboration with DCTA, DPS, Padres & Jovenes Unidos, University of Denver, NEA, and The Advancement Project – developed 3 model demonstration sites and collaborated in writing training materials and ‘how to guides’ for starting school-wide RP programs; Special Services Policy Committee Coordinator – collaboration with DPS Student Services Department and DCTA to make recommendations to BOE regarding mental health and special education needs for students; Collaborated with CEA and DPS to have the ‘I Can Do It- Classroom Management for the 21st Century’ accepted as a session at the 2016 New Educator Institute and in process for an accepted Professional Development Unit with DPS.

Provide counseling to students in individual and group settings; Counsel students in social/emotional and academic areas; Advise students in course selection, post-graduate pursuits, career planning, college admissions, financial aid. Consult with students, teachers, parents and others to determine specific academic needs of students. Schedule and present workshops for students, parents and staff regarding high school and college planning process.
