As a development engineer I am building solutions for the Asset and Liability Management department of ABN Amro. At the moment my main focus is on building BI solutions with Power BI. At the moment my main focus is on building BI solutions with Power BI. As a team we have an end to end responsibility. This means gathering the proper data, structuring the data in a datamodel, creating the reports and deploying and maintaining the solution with CICD. Because Power BI is a rather new technology for ABN Amro I am also actively involved in the setup of Power BI throughout ABN Amro. I am hosting recurring sessions in which knowledge and best practices are shared with collegues across ABN Amro. Additionally, I have been selected to participate in the Azure Advisors program (as a "Power BI Champion") by Microsoft. In this program I provide my feedback on the functionality of Power BI directly with the developers of Power BI. This happens mainly in conference calls in which developers demonstrate new features and the "Power BI Champions" can provide their feedback and help shape the product. Additionally, I am also building an automation tool for our business users. This tool is mainly built in C# and has a web component written in .Net Core. Being one of the… Show more Developing IT solutions for the Asset and Liabiliy Management department:As a member of the Interest Rate Risk team I am one of the pioneers in using Microsoft Power BI for the reports in our department. This means that I was involved in resolving technical startup challenges, like configuring gateways and restructuring data models. Apart from the initial setup of Power BI for my department, I have converted old (SSRS) reports to dynamic Power BI reports and Dashboards. Being one of the first to share the new reports to my stakeholders also gave me the opportunity to share my Power BI knowledge to my colleagues. During this period I have given numerous workshops and demos to both my colleagues and my stakeholders. Being the "go to person" for a particular topic gives me a lot of joy in my work.Next to my work related to Power BI I helped designing and developing a handful of solutions. I will highlight a few of the technologies which I have learned: SQL database projects with SQL unit tests, C# console applications with unit tests and a web application.Additionally, since my arrival in the team we have adopted a DevOps way of working. This means that we are responsible for both the development and the maintainance of our products. I have leared how to create CI/CD pipelines for our products. We have moved our codebase from SubVersion to VSTS Git and I am familiar with both source control systems. For our CI/CD pipeline I have experience with VSTS. Show less

Als Calco MasterClass Professional doorloop ik een tweejarig traineeship waarin ik opgeleid word tot IT-professional. De eerste twee maanden van het traineeship volg ik een intensief opleidingsprogramma op het hoofdkantoor van Calco in Maarssen. Tijdens deze opleidingsperiode doe ik kennis op over de verschillende rollen en processen binnen de IT en specialiseer ik mij in een richting die mij past (bijvoorbeeld informatieanalist, applicatiebeheerder, tester, programmeur of projectleider)… Show more Als Calco MasterClass Professional doorloop ik een tweejarig traineeship waarin ik opgeleid word tot IT-professional. Naast het opdoen van IT-kennis en vaardigheden, staat ook mijn persoonlijke ontwikkeling centraal binnen de Calco MasterClass. Zo is er tijdens het opleidingsprogramma bijvoorbeeld veel aandacht voor de ontwikkeling van mijn presentatie- en communicatievaardigheden. Na het opleidingsprogramma ga ik voor een periode van 22 maanden aan de slag bij één van onze opdrachtgevers om me daar on-the-job inhoudelijk verder te ontwikkelen. Tijdens mijn gehele inzet word ik door een fieldmanager van Calco begeleid en gecoacht. Daarnaast wordt er een persoonlijk ontwikkelplan (POP) opgesteld, zodat ik me ook tijdens mijn inzet blijf ontwikkelen op persoonlijk vlak.Na afronding van het tweejarig traineeship is het vaak mogelijk om een overstap naar de opdrachtgever te maken, maar ik kan mijn carrière ook bij Calco voortzetten.
