- Working as a contractor to help set up new microservices using state-of-the-art technologies and techniques to ease and propel business operations. - Implemented production-grade integrations of third-party payment gateways provided including Stripe, Paystack and Flutterwave. These implementations were written to be not just easily extensible but also such that it is easy to swap out one provider for another without making any changes to the logic of the code which has made our work faster and more reliable so far.- Implemented production-grade integrations of third-party insurance providers of different sorts to power our business.- The application is very transaction heavy and thus very write-heavy so I have had to work extensively with message queues, particularly RabbitMQ, to increase the reliability of the writes and also boost fault tolerance for transactions when they need to occur.- Implemented app-wide analytics for the admin dashboard which required a lot of DB querying, query optimization and caching to ensure efficient running.- Participated in product reviews and deployment sessions to contribute to keeping things running smoothly.- Implemented rigorous business logic to power the benefits platform which consists of very interesting branches of financial technology including different forms of insurance such as health insurance, gadget insurance as well as retirement for modern digital workers.- Leveraged cutting-edge fintech solutions to streamline claims processing and enhance customer experiences for both the health insurance and gadget insurance products.

- Teamed up with 3 other backend/devops engineers including myself as the team lead to architect and develop the systems powering the organization’s internal business processes. We were working as contractors- Here we were dealing with large, complex data and so I had to use efficient database design for optimum performance of read/write operations. - Implemented a robust analytics dashboard that facilitated comprehensive visualisation of complex data so that the stakeholders could make meaningful and accurate decisions about the business with a single glance at the dashboard.- Asides from the data modelling, I tuned queries extensively using both raw SQL queries and TypeORM to perform heavy-lifting of data required by client- I drafted the guidelines for unit testing here and oversaw adherence to it to achieve nearly 70% test coverage of code written- I was responsible for representing the backend team in stakeholder meetings to ensure wholesome elicitation of requirements while securing the best interests of both the code and those writing it- Laid foundational groundwork and set coding standards for junior engineers to follow in implementing our solutions. - Worked with senior backend engineers on the team to gain and solidify relevant Fintech experience- Worked in a team of about 8 engineers to implement a re-architected version of the entire backend systems(including payment systems) using NestJS to be able to handle thousands of requests in any given minute. This translated to a 46% increase in availability and performance when compared to what was previously in place- Assisted in tuning DB queries to be more performant- Volunteered on call in technical support to get a feel of customers’ pain points with the product- Volunteered to be SCRUM master to assist project manager in coordinating and overseeing the execution of technical tasks and tracking the velocity of development whilst actively contributing to the code and building features- Drafted out unit testing guidelines and best practices for I and my colleagues to follow in order to ensure a standardized approach to writing tests across all the teams- Implemented a set of APIs that allows the fraud analysis team to easily manipulate/control accounts that could be fraudulent thereby making the process of fraud mitigation to be much faster and efficient for the company - Worked with message queues to enable resilient and fault tolerant communication amongst our microservices and implemented caching to improve the performance of APIs

- Worked as a contractor to help build out the payments ecosystem for a high-traffic ticketing platform alongside former colleagues as well as new ones. I gained great insight into the nuances of working with systems that require scalability and speed- Contributed in architecture/system design discussions and code review sessions to make sure our backend was robust and fault tolerant- Setup microservice for pooling and processing transactions while communicating with other microservices within the ecosystem

- Designed 25% of the systems at Gwali- Worked with a team of 4 using NodeJS, Laravel and VueJS to build out API features and services on Gwalinotes that helped students share study materials and resources more effectively while also earning good money in exchange for content- Helped integrate payment options into the application to facilitate financial exchange between students across the University. We had also implemented a utility token that could be exchanged for fiat currency- Led the process of pentesting the web application for vulnerabilities that are peculiar to web applications. Here I got my hands a bit dirty with Linux, cybersecurity and Python scripting
