I am currently a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I am pursuing an MS in Clinical Nutrition. I have taken courses in community nutrition, nutrition for critical care, sports nutrition, and social media for life sciences. I am planning to graduate in Spring 2022.In my experience as an undergraduate at Brigham Young University I took courses and labs in food management, clinical and community nutrition, and physiology. I had the opportunity to work with the Meals on Wheels program and the Food and Care Coalition homeless shelter. In these volunteer experiences I was able to cultivate friendships with home-bound residents and provided assistance as needed. I am passionate about providing education and necessary resources to those who have limited access. I have several years of experience working in food service management at the Haring Center at the University of Washington and the Kiddie Academy of Redmond Ridge. As a food service manager, I planned and prepared meals and snacks for children according to established guidelines and managed inventory to ensure that all nutritional and food safety regulations were met. I enjoyed the creativity of planning healthy meals for children and the chance to interact and serve this population. I am currently working as a WIC Nutritionist with the Georgia Department of Health where I work with participants to provide nutrition education and essential food benefits to vulnerable women, infants and children. I am interested in working with children and families as well as underserved populations in public health. I am planning to pursue an internship in the next year and become a registered dietitian. I would like to work with diverse populations in nutrition counseling.
