Blood:Water works with local partners in Africa on HIV and water projects. I consulted with staff at New Life Medical Center in Northern Uganda in collaboration with Blood:Water's partner, Food for the Hungry. After an initial assessment and project scoping, I communicated with local and national staff to analyze drug procurement delays and streamline ordering of essential supplies, developed a monitoring and evaluation plan for a facility-community integration initiative, and launched Continuous Quality Improvement activities through training sessions and implementing PDSA cycles with teams of frontline staff.

The new Center for Affordable Health Care is a destination for innovation that brings hospital leaders, community groups, and industry together to improve the overall value of health care in North Carolina. I assisted the Executive Director and staff in program planning, including the conceptual framework and logic model; helped write a survey of hospital executives; and presented my research findings on innovative cost saving models and initiatives for hospitals.

ConnectAbaana, a network of five primary schools in central and western Uganda, provides capacity building activities and support for innovative projects to improve the quality and sustainability of education in rural Uganda. Through partnerships and teacher training, we foster leadership, transfer technical skills, and support local educators who are community leaders.As Communications Director, I lead the planning, design, and maintenance of the organization's web presence. I have conducted workshops with Ugandan educators; interviewed school staff, students, parents, and community leaders; held community outreach and fundraising events in the US; and created video presentations and a web blog. I plan and implement external communications efforts and collaborate with the steering committee on long-term and short-term strategic planning.

As a teacher of supplementary courses for home schooled children, I customized a curriculum, practiced holistic teaching techniques, planned and implemented lessons.

I designed and implemented an enrichment curriculum incorporating science experiments, team building, independent thinking, and interdisciplinary educational games. I adapted lessons for age-appropriateness and taught groups of up to 40 children in grades 1-6. I also coordinated a talent show with large scale musical theater routines.

I worked as a member of the Communications team to represent Mount Holyoke in the greater media. I wrote articles for the college's website, wrote and put out press releases, used online media monitoring tools, helped design a presentation for the Board of Trustees, and provided support during an onsite TV interview.
