Prof. Winkler is one of Europe’s leading regulatory and crisis management lawyers and founder of the first sanctions law firm in Germany. As an attorney he has worked on some of the most prominent and challenging legal crises of the last decade in Germany and the EU, regularly involving high-stakes political and/or sensitive reputational issues. He has led one of the key compliance units of a major European bank through an U.S. monitorship, has represented companies (as part of U.S. and UK law firms) in milestone litigation before the EU Court of Justice, advised corporations on #MeToo cases and guided exporters through the dramatic Iran-, later Crimea- and now Russia-related sanctions waves.
