Our team works with school districts, community partners, and our agency to provide effective public outreach to increase opportunities for all children, birth to adulthood. The communications team works with school districts and Douglas ESD to find and implement strategies that broaden local communities’ understanding of the services and resources provided to students and staff throughout schools, in our community and around the state.• Develops communications plans that can be comprehensive and large-scale or topic-specific• Evaluates and improves current communications strategies• Writes and distributes press releases to local media and organization channels.• Provides crisis communications.• Writes, designs, edits, and/or advises district publications• Cultivates and maintains relationships with local media outlets• Develops, manages and/or monitors social media forums and other district communications channels such as websites• Takes photographs and video (includes video production and editing - Adobe Premiere Pro)• Trains and supports school staff on effective use of communication tools and resources

• Wrote and edited nonfiction books for Scholastic Book Fairs to give 40 million students access to educational products• Interviewed Edgar Award-winning author for a feature article in The Writer magazine• Worked with educators to turn national workshop curriculum into a children’s book• Wrote feature articles and took photographs for the Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business to provide 8,500 companies and their employees current business trends and education content• Created copy and shaped brand voice for a web-based software company to support marketing and offer solutions to 2 million payroll employees • Analyzed the Affordable Care Act and interviewed attorneys, stakeholders, and CEOs to produce accurate content, which helped clients understand the federal law, preventing up to $3 million in penalties per business for noncomplianceByline has appeared places such Working Mother, The Writer, Publishers Weekly, Bulletin (SCBWI), Novel & Short Story Writer’s Market (2016 and 2018), and more.
