:: Full-time volunteer position, via Australian Volunteers International, in Timor-Leste (East Timor).:: Senior Paediatric Registrar at HNGV, the largest and national referral hospital for Timor-Leste.:: The unit accommodates up to 60 children and 30 infants, with a wide range of infectious diseases and other paediatric conditions. Resource-poor setting.:: Duties included supervision of Registrars in clinical assessment and management of patients, undertaking medical procedures, conducting bed-side and formal teaching of Registrars, and quality improvement programs.

:: Full-time position at Australia’s largest specialist public hospital dedicated to women’s and newborns’ health. Under the supervision of specialist Neonatologists and Fellows, responsible for provision of care at the Newborn Intensive Care Unit, Special Care Nursery, birth centre, and postnatal ward. The unit accommodates up to 60 infants, with 1400 admissions per year. The unit manages babies 23 weeks gestation and above, with care including invasive ventilation, high frequency oscillatory ventilation, and cardiovascular support with vasopressors and inotropes.:: Duties includes clinical assessment and management of neonatal patients, management of deteriorating patients, attendance at neonatal codes, undertaking medical procedures, and coordination within multi-disciplinary teams.:: Procedural skill experience includes endotracheal intubation, umbilical catheter insertion, peripherally inserted central catheter insertion, lumbar puncture, suprapubic aspirate, and urinary catheterisation.

Under the supervision of specialist Paediatricians and Neonatologists, responsible for provision of care at the Children’s Unit (22 bed-ward), Special Care Nursery (18-bed high dependency level 5 unit), and Paediatric Emergency Department. The Special Care Nursery manages babies 31 weeks gestation and above. The Northern Hospital has over 3000 deliveries per year.:: Duties includes clinical assessment and management of paediatric and neonatal patients, similar to RWH position above, as well as presentation at departmental morbidity & mortality meetings.:: Independent procedural skills described above, and also included basic emergency department wound management including suturing and ring blocks, plaster application for common fractures, and basic procedural sedation.
