Hello Everyone,I am new to the field of cybersecurity having just passed my Security+ Exam. Before that I completed a cybersecurity boot camp at Rutgers University to get familiar with the field. I completed three major projects while attending the boot camp. The first of which was to build, secure and protect a web application that we generated with either Microsoft Azure or GoDaddy.com. The second project that I completed was as the project lead where my group was tasked with penetration testing a practice website inside of a virtual machine. We had to use various tools such as: Wireshark, BurpSuite, Metasploit and Kali Linux. At the completion of this task we had to draft a report on our findings. The final project that we did was to interact with Splunk, a SIEM. My group was tasked with designing a dashboard based on the logs that were generated for us in the scenario. Using the created dashboard we had to draft a report using our metrics and findings in order to make it easily readable for someone who would not know how to read it normally. Overall, the experience was very enjoyable and allowed me to build a variety of skills across several systems and tools. I am hoping to take the skills that I learned throughout this whole process and put them to work in my future career.
