Vince was the support engineer for our team, and in my opinion, he helped the team through thick and thin, always trying to improve the team's operational excellence load. Let me make a note that our team at Amazon was well regarded as having one of the worst operational loads in the Amazon Fulfillment Technologies. After approximately 6 months of Vincent being on our team, due to Vincent setting up monitoring support, which would alert us of problems before they hit the customers, we were able to reduce the customer facing impact by more than half. Vincent always wants to better the experience for both the Customers, and the Engineers supporting the product. He would often act as a first line of defense, even when not on call (it was the on call's responsibility to handle issues as they arise). I can still remember Vincent going through each host environment (listing in the hundreds) in order to synchronize all of the logs across all the systems we owned so that they were all in the same time format. He decided to do this on a hack day, in order to improve the Support Engineers and the Software Developers burden. For the customers (the fulfillment centers/warehouses), Vincent was often a point of contact in order to better understand the system. When he did not know something, instead of passing them off to someone, he'd stay on and try to better understand the situation in order to fix it himself next time. This was also true for bugs or errors which Vincent could not help to solve. Overall Vincent was a great asset to the team. He would get everything assigned to him done, and always found time to go one step more, be it to help and fulfillment center, or do something that would help the team improve. As I was leaving Amazon, Vincent was taking on responsibilities which were usually assigned to SDEs, and driving them to completion. Given the opportunity, I'd work with Vincent again. "
