In April, 2012 I was diagnosed with metastatic renal cell carcinoma, aka kidney cancer. Through some combination of surgery, science, faith and will to live, I've managed to survive and am in a full remission. I remain in treatment, however, since there is no cure for mRCC. In 2015 I took a medical leave from NetApp as the side effects of chemotherapy became too severe to continue working in a job that required massive travel, management of a large, globally dispersed staff, and physical presence in front of many Fortune 100 clients. In short, the job requirements exceeded my physical limitations.In 2018 I agreed to help One 8 & Company, a boutique professional services firm founded by a family member, on pro bono basis as CEO. This arrangement allows me to work on my terms, when I am able, and from home, or close to it. In this role I set the course for the company and provide guidance to help them achieve operational, sales and delivery excellence. I am confident that there will be a cure for my cancer some day, and hope to join One 8 & Company as a full time, paid employee in the future. Until then I'll keep my skills sharp and enjoy watching this company grow and flourish.Previously, as Sr. Manager of Professional Services Sales for NetApp, I led services sales in the Eastern US, Canada, and Central and South America. Prior to that I was a Client Partner with EMC, working at the C-level with a single Fortune 50 pharma client helping them achieve their long term IT and operational vision. From 2001 through 2005 I was COO and VP of Advisory Services at Cortlandt Technology Partners, a company I co-founded. I met my future business partners while working at Chubb Computer Services, where I was the Director of Professional Services. Earlier in my career I worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Global Risk Management Solutions and for The Robert Plan Corporation as a Sr. IT Manager. I may have cancer, but it doesn't have me! Choose to live!
