Vince Patton is a 10-time Emmy award winning broadcast journalist and an avid genealogist.He spent 35 years as a full-time journalist in public and commercial television & radio in Portland, Dallas, Wichita and Denver. He's been honored with more than three dozen national and regional journalism awards including 10 Emmys, four Dallas Press Club Katies, a CINE Golden Eagle, an SEJ Best Documentary Award, and two Headliners Foundation Awards. He produced long-form journalism on the environment, nature and outdoor recreation for the most popular local PublicTV news magazine in the country, Oregon Field Guide, from 2007-2016.He was one of a handful of journalists from around the nation selected for a 2013 MBL Science Fellowship in Woods Hole, a 2008 Marine Science Fellowship at Oregon State University and a prestigious 9-month Knight Wallace Fellowship at the Univ. of Michigan in 2003. He served for 3 years as the President of the Genealogical Forum of Oregon, the largest genealogy library in the Pacific Northwest. He served as chief Marketer and Fundraiser for the organization, raising more than $200k in 3 years for this small nonprofit.His photos and freelance articles have been published in Via Magazine, Portland Monthly, The Oregonian, The Spokesman-Review, Yakima Herald and Television Week.
