As a research assistant under Russell Poldrack, I am tasked with:- psychological experimental design and coding of cognitive tasks using JavaScript and Python- behavioral survey distribution and observational data collection- fMRI operation, human subject monitoring, and recording and maintenance of imaging database- data analysis and application of behavioral economics models- literature review of current research and possible future investigationsMy current project involves working with a mentor to investigate cognitive methods of decreasing delay discount rate (the subjective devaluation of rewards as a function of time) in order to promote delay of gratification and patient behaviors. Methods of decreasing the bias humans hold towards immediate, smaller rewards over later, larger rewards can be applied to a number of different contexts to combat maladaptive behaviors, such as substance abuse, gambling addiction, and obesity.

Raheem AI is a chatbot and data visualization platform that allows anonymous rating and reporting of police interactions, especially for communities of color suffering from systemically disproportionate rates of police brutality. These data are then displayed in an interactive map that allows users gain a sense of police makeup in their area and inform themselves of safe routes and behavior, while at the same time, these data can be used as tools to hold police and politicians accountable for their actions. By providing an accessible, concrete, low personal investment cost, and streamlined course of action, we empower marginalized people to be able to anonymously contribute to a powerful voice, taking their safety into their own hands while using the power of data to contribute to the visibility of oppressional systems.
