With X-ray crystallography and biophysical approaches I am trying to gain mechanistic understanding of how Mycobacterium tuberculosis effectors undermine the host innate immune response.

Solved structure of 11 proteins and submitted them to Protein Data Banak.Research Projects:1) Elucidating how bacteria sense phenols through structural analysis of transcription activators. 2) Structural studies of uracil DNA glycosylase (BdiUNG) from Bradyrhizobium diazoefficiens.Gained expertise in recombinant protein expression in bacterial cell culture and purification using affinity chromatography, ion-exchange chromatography, hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC), and Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC) with FPLC AKTA purification system. Protein crystallization, data collection, processing, and refinement (HKL 2000, Phenix, CNS, Wincoot, and Pymol). Gained extensive expertise in molecular biology and several bioanalytical techniques including in depth study of protein-protein interactions.

Area of research - 1) Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) synthesis from bacteria for biomedical applications.2) Application of (PHAs) for protein delivery systems.
