To say that I am an avid book reader is an understatement. I've worked in the book industry for almost 10 years and have enjoyed every minute of it, learning how a book gets made, how it gets sold, and how it reaches the customer. I also met people in different positions in the industry, collaborating with them to not only help sell books, but make sure that reach the right reader. Book publishing is more than just creating a book. It's about opening a readers mind to other worlds and different perspectives from there own. There is so much a book can do for a person and publishers are in the unique position to not only provide stores, but help drive important conversations. Finishing my Masters in Business Administration taught me new ways that could guide publishers into new conversations, promoting diversity and inspiring imagination. I believe there is a huge call for science fiction and fantasy titles in the marketplace, but there needs to be some guidance on how to get these books properly marketed. Independent Bookstores have huge potential to determine what makes a book a bestseller, but still lack certain resources to help make their voices heard. I would like to work to help fill these gaps in the book industry.
