Expanding on my prior product management role to a global product manager position, I became a key team member in the evaluation of potential new products in the R&D pipeline. Specifically, I developed business cases and ROI analyses to present to our CTO, helping the executive team determine the value of moving forward with development of specific products. From there, I project / product manage the new offering, developing product requirements and collaborating with the marketing, sales, and global procurement teams to achieve our goals.Recently, I developed the 3-year R&D roadmap and 5-year strategic product vision. To gather as much data as possible, I sponsored and launched the Salt Lake City Sales Forum, from which I incorporated cross-functional knowledge and expectations from sales, engineering, after-sales service, and upper management into our long-term strategy and goal setting.With these and additional insights in hand, I also took the lead on centralizing our R&D function globally, so that our product development pipeline was highly efficient and effective. In doing so, we eliminated duplicative costs in several areas. On the customer-facing side, maintained positive relationships that assured our continued business with global customers. In another situation, I set up a technology transfer arrangement in a highly competitive European marketplace and established the cross-functional team to support the product development and launch abroad.

At the same time, I increased market awareness of our products, which improved our quote requests 50%. Working in both traditional markets and newly defined niche opportunities, I set up the roadmap and strategy to ensure that we kept pace with our customers’ requirements, increased customer satisfaction significantly, and outpaced our competition.

Earlier in my career, I was a mechanical design engineer. From this experience I developed strong expertise in product development and product management, not to mention manufacturing (using principles of design for manufacture and assembly / DFMA). Interestingly, much of my work was customer-facing, both in the custom design phase and the sales. Several products I managed from vision to delivery are still on the market today and have generated millions of dollars in revenue.

I created and updated mechanical drawings and collaborated with manufacturing and assembly teams on build as the project manager for the complete process. I also supported our sales team with strategic pricing and technical reviews.
