With a Ph.D. in Business Administration and an M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (awarded in January 1997), I bring over 26.5 years of experience at the Engineering Research Centre of Tata Motors Ltd. My primary focus has been on engine design and development, but I've also played a vital role in team building and establishing centres of competence for crank train, Air Intake System, and Crankcase ventilation system.I spearheaded the shift towards system-based engine development, employing digital validation enhancements to reduce development timelines. My expertise spans engine component and system design, utilising various techniques such as DFMEA, DFM, DFS, DVA, and problem-solving methods like 8D and DOE.Throughout my career, I've consistently delivered significant business impact by combining technical excellence with value creation, cost optimisation, and streamlined design processes. I've also contributed substantially to our organisation's intellectual property portfolio.My roles have evolved from Senior Engineer to Team Leader, Project Manager, Program Manager, AGM, and DGM, overseeing engine design and development projects for MUVs, SUVs, and pick-up trucks. Currently, I lead the Center of Competence responsible for crank train systems, Crankcase ventilation systems, and Air intake systems, encompassing Tata's engine portfolio ranging from 0.7 litre to 8 litre. I played a pivotal role in institutionalizing the Center of Competence for engine design and development, focusing on system-based technical competency. My international representation for Tata Motors in technical events, including engagements with global companies and participation in international conferences, underscores my expertise in engine integration.In terms of research, I've authored seven research papers published in SAE international journals and secured one patent for Radiator mounting bracket design. Additionally, I've filed eight patent applications (currently pending) in India, covering innovations such as intake system reservoirs, Hill assist systems, CRDI engine firing without camshaft position sensors, swirl ejectors for rapid exhaust dilution, and location-independent flow conditioners. I've also filed for copyright protection for an Automated EOL engine EMS verification program.
