Oversee the taking of minutes at all board meetings: Distribute minutes to the Executive Board and general membership. Responsible for working closely with the Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project (CLYLP) to plan Capitol Day. Coordinate with the capitol community to ensure Capitol Day is successfully planned and executed. Responsible for planning and executing the CLCAF & Brown Issues Policy Bootcamp.

Analyzed legislation, conducted research, and coordinated with senior staff and stakeholders to support the Senator’s committee assignments and legislative goals, particularly on environmental, water, and housing issues. Managed six of the Senator’s bills, including SB 974, removing certain barriers to building water projects in small rural communities, and SB 260, ensuring continuity of insurance coverage for people exiting Medi-Cal. Oversaw budget efforts to secure $12 million for the Youth and Family Civic Engagement Initiative, spearheaded by the Dolores Huerta Foundation and the Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Center.Hired, supervised, and mentored participants in the office’s Capitol Intern Program.

Advised the Senator on policy issues areas relating to Agriculture, Health and Human Services, Environmental Quality, and Public Employment and Retirement.

Recruited and supervised volunteers for direct voter outreach, including weekly phonebanks and canvassing.Created a program to optimize resources and increase efficiency by tracking distributed campaign literature. Collaborated with senior staff to develop and implement the campaign’s social media communications.

Supervised and secured residence hall of 38 young male high school students. Provided homework assistance and one-on-one tutoring. Communicated with instructors, coordinators, professional staff about students concerns and other areas of improvement. Monitored meals in accordance with Summer Food Service Program guidelines. Organized and developed nightly and weekend social/cultural workshops, led weekly student meetings, organized and participated in recreational activities.

Researched, collected, and compiled data regarding students of color applying to UC Irvine from partner schools to be given to professional staff members to use in determining college access.

Led a discussion section teaching 15 first year college students per academic quarter how to successfully navigate university life and academic rigor. Created weekly lesson plans incorporating lecture material into engaging learning programs in a classroom setting. Organized and facilitated engaging educational lesson plans at Orangewood, a shelter for children who have been abused, abandoned and/or neglected.

Responsible for programming events and workshops related to educating the public on diversity issues and raising awareness on various intersectional identities. In this position, I spearheaded a new program known as "Real Talk," in which members shared their personal stories of facing social barriers relating to their identity(s) (i.e. race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, socio-economic status, gender and etc.) to peers and professional staff on campus. They were known as Storytellers with a Message.
