About Anna Hicks

I try to understand the complex, dynamic relationships between people and the hazardous environments in which they live, in an attempt to help reduce risk. Sometimes I lean on my physical science background to understand one part of the process and sometimes use my knowledge of social science to develop an understanding of another. Often, I find it’s best to do both and to collaborate with many others in the process! I eagerly support creative turns in science and research turns in the arts to help solve complex problems such as disaster risk reduction.
