As a lawyer Jacques always tries to think in possibilities and is heavily involved in the legal implications of emerging technologies e.g. blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, NFT's and Metaverses, without losing sight of daily legal and policy matters in Land Administration. He is involved in international activities. Jacques is member of the board of directors of the European Land Registries Association where he has been one of the founders of the crossborder e-conveyancing project called Crobeco. Jacques started his career at a notary office and afterwards he became a Land Registrar at Kadaster, where he was responsible for realizing and implementing the automated updating of the land registry (in Dutch: kik). During his work at Kadaster Jacques studied law & IT in Groningen. He recently designed and helped implementing the renewal of an e-conveyancing system and a notification service for notaries.He teaches and gives lectures at various universities but also enjoys talking for groups of professionals, e.g. notaries, judicial officers, registrars and enforcement agencies.Most recently, Jacques joined and coordinated a taskforce, responsible for the introduction of limitations with regard to the provision of information in Dutch land registry.
