I am currently the Accounting Manager at Pessoa Construction Co., a heavy highway construction company in the DMV area. I primarily oversee payroll and accounting functions, while also helping to tie up loose ends. In other words, any administrative work that isn’t getting done but needs to get done is given to me. This means that I am constantly learning new things. During my time at PCC, I have also designed their new company website and created software guides for the company. Prior to PCC, I was an Account Service Intern at MDB Communications, an advertising agency in Washington, D.C. Primarily focused on helping the account service department and, on occasion, the media department. I was tasked with conducting research for upcoming campaign pitches as well as verifying budget reports. Additionally, I helped review marketing reports and client proposals. While at the University of Maryland, I served on the communications committee as an article writer for my honor society. My job was to write articles for the honor society’s monthly newsletter. I was also an active participant in the Terrapin Leadership Institue Program at University of Maryland. During this 5 week program, I participated in group discussions and activities to develop teamwork, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
