I got my first computer for Christmas in 8th grade, a TRS-80 Color Computer. I taught myself BASIC and I've been programming ever since. Although I took a detour into Biology in college, I soon realized that medical school wouldn't be a good fit for me, so I went back to my first love, programming.Since then I've done a little bit of everything. From fullstack Java Servlets/JSP to iOS and embedded Android applications. I've mostly been doing native work for mobile devices for the past 8 years or so, but I think I would also enjoy getting back into the fullstack world. I've always enjoyed the whole server to end-user loop and to that end, I've started learning the new standards for fullstack development - node.js and the MEAN/MERN stacks. I have over 20 years’ software design and development expertise with proven experience in translating client requirements into elegant and innovative designs and applications. I have practical experience in both large organizations and startups. I can quickly learn new skills and programming languages, but my specialties at the moment are Java, Kotlin, Objective C, Swift, PHP, Javascript, HTML, CSS, jQuery, Bootstrap and mySQL as well as some Python. I don't have a lot of Node.js or React/Angular experience yet, but I am continuing to work on it in my spare time.When I'm not at work or in front of my computer at home, you can usually find me in the woodshop trying to bring out the natural beauty of wood in my furniture.
