No one ever assumes that an English major would ever end up in law school. Here I am, with my B.A. in English, about to embark on my journey into law school. People tend not to understand that the skills I have gained studying English are directly applicable to skills needed in law school. Skills such as critical thinking, analytical reading, and detailed writing are among the many skills learned during my undergraduate career that can be applied to my post-graduate studies. It was not just my degree that gave me skills aimed to succeed in a career in law, but the organizations I was involved with helped as well. I was a senator in the student government, the Western Student Association, as well as a founding member and chairperson for the swing dancing club, the Western Swing Society. These roles gave me a great foundation in leadership skills.
