The Fab Academy is a fast paced, hands-on learning experience where students learn rapid-prototyping by planning and executing a new project each week, resulting in a personal portfolio of technical accomplishments. It offers a distributed rather than distance educational model, students learn in local workgroups, with peers, mentors, and machines, which are then connected globally by content sharing and video for interactive classes.My job as a local instructor is to teach my students a new set of skills and techniques every week, that would allow them to perform a project for the week after, learning new skills along the way. During the course period, i mentor, evaluate, and teach students various concepts, techniques, and new software that they can use to build almost anything. The students have to design and produce a final project from scratch, using all the skills that they learned during the course, to graduate from Fab Academy.

After 3 years coordinating all fablab activities, I was promoted to the manager position. The primary task is to oversee the overall operation of the Fab Lab and the development of programs and services for a variety of primary interest groups, that meet their needs. Additionally, my job is to support youth on learning how to build almost anything using digital fabrication methods.The idea of our fab lab is to become a place of exchange and creation for a wide audience: from college students to innovative companies, including artists, DIY enthusiasts and researchers.As a Fab Lab Manager, my current work includes:- Supervising the digital fabrication operations, staff and volunteers and overseeing lab activities.- Mentoring entrepreneurs and startups, mainly hardware startups, during their new product development process and supporting them in their prototyping phase. - Developing community programs, and projects that have a social impact. ( Covid response, Beirut Blast Relief...)- Designing and Instructing various workshops teaching the power of design and digital fabrication tools for all ages.- Mentoring many startups, entrepreneurs and students across various accelerator programs in Lebanon and the Region.- Working directly with users and students in the fab lab on their projects and products' development.- Conceptualizing, Designing and Fabricating custom projects for community partners and educational programs.- Assisting Local Organizations in setting up, designing and developing new makerspaces and fab labs in Lebanon. Training the teams that will manage and operate the new labs, and the local communities on new skills that they can apply in their jobs, or help create jobs. - Leading communications and outreach on all social media platforms of the fab lab. - Creating quality online content.- Communicating with national and international maker communities - Leading software, hardware, and database management of the lab.

As the conception for makerspaces and digital fabrication is uprising in the middle east region, Berytech has made a strategic decision, back in 2017, to develop a one-of-its kind fab lab in Lebanon, that serves all society layers, including startups, entrepreneurs, students, makers, etc.The idea behind the Fab Lab was to raise awareness and introduce the power of digital fabrication to Lebanese students, and professionals in all fields. We also wanted to empower entrepreneurs to prototype their products, thus helping the industry in Lebanon. As a Fab Lab Coordinator, my tasks were: - Setting up the lab from scratch, including all machinery, software, furniture along with the operations system and policies for the lab. - Defining the core mission and strategy to become a Fab Lab of reference in Lebanon as a promoter for innovation.- Promoting and advocating for the Fab Lab capabilities and mission, by organizing various events and activities. - Designing and Organizing workshops and events to promote digital fabrication, innovation, prototyping and product design, in hopes to reach local sustainability - Managing the operation, maintenance and updates of all lab equipment, and ensuring that parts and materials are up to date and available. -Training all staff, members, and students on equipment/related software, to operate the machines effectively and safely. -Helping and consulting many Startups, Entrepreneurs and Makers design and build their projects and products on a daily basis.- Instructing multiple Technical Workshop (Design, Arduino, Furniture Design, Mechanical Design, Molding and Casting...)- Creating partnerships and collaborations with other organizations and programs to integrate fab lab activities and services into their programs. - Working as a Fab Academy Instructor for MIT’s international course “How to Make Almost Anything”

Managed and Lead teams of professionals and subcontractors successfully on site submitting the project on time as per the design received and budget assigned from the client, meeting the required quality.Project: Chehabiyeh Pump Station Rehabilitation Project – South Lebanon Water Establishment / US AID.- Fabrication and Installation new CS piping- Supplying and Installing new Pump Sets with all related MCC & Control Panels

Lead teams of professionals, including foremen, fabricators, welders, and workers, on site to submit the project on time according to the received design meeting the required quality, standards and budget.Project: Installing a Nitrogen Interface Facilities, Qurayyah Sea Water Treatment Plant – Air Liquide - Saudi Aramco- Fabrication and Installation of CS and RTR pipes. - Fabrication and Installation of all related Structures/skids and Rotating Equipment.

Rotation in the various departments of the ABJ fabrication company, a subsidary in Kharafi National. ABJ is a design and fabrication company of pressure vessesls, piplines, and other structural designs. As a trainee:- Joined various teams in different departments and helped in daily tasks, Gaining an overview of the Fabrication and Manufacturing processes and the Management system.- I learned about the whole production process from design to fabrication and the steps we should go through. - Learned about designing Pressure Vessels and Oil & Gas Rigs and Skids, and designed some myself. - Learned about multiple manufacturing tools and techniques including digital fabrication tools.
