Working with the Criminal Justice system. For many, it’s an extremely daunting prospect – especially if they have to face the accused. As a Witness Care Support, I was able to make the whole process easier by providing solid support.This was a role where I made a huge difference to witnesses and victims of crime. I would provide advice and guide people through the various steps of a case from start to finish. I was the main point of contact, keeping witnesses up to date on court proceedings. I was also in complete need for assessments, to make sure victims and witnesses are getting the support that will help them to give the best evidence.Clearly, this was a role that required sensitivity. I was working with all sorts of people, including vulnerable victims. I, therefore, needed strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build a rapport. Resilient and patient, I was able to explain legal and police procedures.
