Working as a part of the home lending team at Upstart with an increasingly broad focus. After a successful product launch in July, we are actively working to grow Upstart HELOC (heloc.upstartmortgage.com)! In this new role I have had the privilege to work with a world class team to unlock the potential of the HELOC product. During this time I've also been a part of the team growth and maturing process. I'm excited to see where the future takes us at Upstart - we're doing great things!

Working with a talented group of individuals to craft a machine learning driven, mortgage lending platform. Working on mortgage at Upstart has allowed me to exercise my unique background and skill set - building a best in class product, inspiring a culture of learning and creating strong engineering patterns. Examples of this include creating a unique approach to collecting borrower information, starting a Kotlin guild and working on improvements to platform level components. At the end of the day, my roots are the same: creating a product that customers will love, while growing others' talent.At Upstart we are building a NextJS application backed by Kotlin services, hosted in Vercel and AWS respectively. Our architecture is event based with a mixture of Kafka and gRPC being the mechanisms to propagate these domain events through the system. Upstart teams are full stack, meaning we get to own all engineering artifacts including the front end, back end, CI/CD and infra deploys.

Post Cardinal Health I decided to take a short sabbatical to grow in my career and explore what it looks like to build a product from the ground up. My first experimental project, "The Savvy Egg" was created from a vision to revolutionize personal finance by providing customers with the clear, understandable data at the right time.During this time, while my focus is understanding value creation in a product world I have also used it as a chance to grow technically. I have continued to learn new tooling including Elastic Beanstalk, Amplify, React, and more.

At OptiFreight (a Cardinal Health company), I contributed as a technical lead in a transformational project. This multi-year project involved creating four technical teams to reimagine the entire business features and function from the ground up. I worked tirelessly during this time to help build my team and contribute in the entire space through the development of best practices, while also contributing to the software itself. This project constantly challenged me to grow as a team member and leader. I was pushed not only to build new teams, but to also reimagine a technical leadership role in a remote first environment. The transformed OptiFreight technical stack was Java (Spring boot) centric, Angular 12 front end, deployed to pivotal cloud foundry in Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The back end persistence used was a hybrid of Postgres and BigQuery with PubSub for eventing. CI/CD was fully automated using Concourse with an emphasis on taking advantage and contributing to reusable enterprise tooling where applicable.

I am the technical lead of one of Cardinal Health's shared services data and ingestion teams. We have built software to handle PHI/HIPAA data at scale ensuring that data is securely and reliably transmitted from vendors to downstream systems. The tech stack includes Java/Spring, Kafka (for streaming data), Redshift (for the operational data warehouse), Ember, Redis, and more. I have gotten a chance in this role to continue to refine my skill set and also to learn quite a bit about the healthcare industry.No matter what, my goal remains the same: using modern tools to consistently deliver value, on time and within budget.

Working with a team of developers and business professionals to create commercial healthcare applications. One of the primary themes of the fuse center - a new effort of Cardinal Health - is to provide a place where ideas flourish. To that end I have worked on existing applications to not only improve and add requested functionality but also to innovate. Recently I have had the opportunity of working on a "big data" project involving Kafka, Hadoop, S3, docker. Other technologies used include Java, C# .NET, and client side code such as AngularJS, ember and dojo.No matter what my setting, my goal as an engineer is still to design and build software that meets the needs of a client in a way that makes sense. In other words: building software that "just works"!

Personally I have the privilege of working with modern web technologies including SASS, JavaScript, PHP, angularJS, ServiceStack, MVC4, just to name a few. At the end of the day, whether its building a new directive, zapping a sass function into shape, or coding a stored proc - the goal is agile software that works for the client and the users.

One example project I worked on involves the use of AngularJS, Ninject, MVC4, ServiceStack to build a website compatible with both a tablet and desktop experience.Even though this job uses cutting edge technologies, I haven't moved far from my roots: using tools as vehicles to arrive at solutions that work for the client!

Design and execute projects for Mideo Systems Inc. Much of what I do involves interfacing with customers, translating real world problems into sets of requirements, designing simple projects that fulfill these requirements and finally working with the team to make sure these projects get built. At the end of the day computers and software are the tools I use to create happy customers.The core software I work on is a mixture of a digital asset management system and a package of enhancement tools. While I can't personally take responsibility for the ideas that drive the system, a good portion of the 1+ million lines of code have been written or enhanced by me. Specific projects I have worked on include: o A silverlight interface on the DAM system with a WCF web service that drives this o Specific tools for filtering and enhancing images o Camera interfaces that allow real time viewing and acquisition from various digital cameras o Custom reporting engine that can generate output to a printer (via GDI+) or directly to PDF (via a modified version of PdfSharp)Of course, these are only a few of the many projects I have had the opportunities to work on during my time at Mideo Systems Inc.

Worked as a consultant at BMW financial services. Initially my role was to serve as a primary engineer directing a Visual Basic Retirement (VBR) project. Code was being converted by and and with a tool from VB6 to C#. I helped refine the automated tool and then finish the resulting code by hand (along with two other developers).After the completion of that project I worked on a number of other projects including a number of business letters in crystal reports, product issues and other normal enhancements to the WinForms product maintained by the team that I was a part of.

Worked after hours at the call center assisting personnel with system access and other routine support issues.
