Throughout four deployments I was promoted from trainee to qualified, wrote over 60 PA Grant Projects, managed a Public Assistance disaster Spend Plan tracker, and participated in Preliminary Damage Assessment. On my last deployment I lead a group of three Project Specialists providing training and supervision.

FEMA Corps is a partnership between AmeriCorps National Community Civilian Corps and the Federal Emergency Management Agency which provides the opportunity for young adults between the ages of 18-24 to serve their community while gaining experience in the field of emergency management. Each Corps Member is trained in a FEMA Qualification System (FQS) position. FQS Position: Public Assistance Project Specialist Trainee● Responded to Major Disaster deployment: Hurricane Sandy DR-4086-New Jersey● Conducted research, analyzed data and compiled summary report on FEMA Region V Public Assistance Grant appeal trends● Assisted with Public Assistance site inspections by documenting eligible damage to public facilities● Aided survivors by face-to-face communication of FEMA Individual Assistance program● Organized and coordinated Community Day for 30 local residents to volunteer at Palisades Interstate Park to clean up debris caused by Hurricane Sandy
