Profile bio

About Walker Tuff

I grew up in the farmland of the central valley of California fixing tractors while surrounded by orchards, so I naturally developed a liking to getting my hands dirty and getting things done. Whether it be in the cleanroom fabricating nanomaterials or in my backyard where I built the "best chicken coop in South Bend", I get a lot of enjoyment out of the fabrication process.I also have a strong passion for learning and education. I am frequently picking up new hobbies ranging from sewing to ZBrush to C# programming to scratch the learning itch. I discovered very early on, however, that the best way to learn is to show another, and it is with this mentality that I sought out teaching opportunities. Altogether, I have taught six different engineering courses at three different colleges over three years while also serving as TA’s, tutors, and frequent guest lecturers.Recently, I finished up my work as a grad student at the University of Notre Dame where I develop new nanofabrication methods for nanometals and metal-oxides in the Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Department. Since then, I have starting working as an innovation fellow at enFocus, a local nonprofit in the Northern Indiana/Southern Michigan area.
