I have 22+ years experience working in government environments at state, regional and local levels in New Zealand, Australia and England. Throughout my career I have worked in developing strategic policy, urban growth and infrastructure planning, Unitary Authority regulatory approvals, feasibility and business case development, governance, project funding and financing, and the project/ programme management of design and construction projects. I am currently the Head of Planning at Auckland Emergency Management and my team and I are passionate about working with Aucklanders and the communities of Tamaki Makaurau to ensure we are collectively better prepared for emergency events. In terms of career highlights, in 2017 I won the NZ RICS Construction Professional of the Year award for my work managing the Wynyard Quarter construction programme. I also consider my involvement for the State Government of Victoria in delivering the $400M+ Broadmeadows regeneration programme, and developing and leading high performing teams in the Auckland Council Regulatory Services Directorate (Central Unit and Premium Unit) as career highlights.In my personal time I am an active member of Rotary International and spend time volunteering for the Auckland City Mission, participating in restoration efforts on Motuihe Island and recently won a business case for $10,000 of Rotary International funding to assist disaster struck communities in the Esk Valley, Hawkes Bay in recovery efforts.

The role requires on the ground issue resolution, stakeholder and affected party collaboration and engagement, coordinating with events organisers wishing to operate in the Quarter, and collaboration with other Auckland Council and CCOs including AT, Parks, WaterCare, Stormwater and other service providers including Vector.In this role I developed a protocol in collaboration with mana whenua for environmental monitoring during construction, MoUs for collaborative working between contractors and building on the initiative trialled in Christchurch, a H&S Charter for Wynyard Quarter to which all construction companies have signed up to. I also chaired the fortnightly (then later monthly) construction coordination forums attended by all lead contractors. This included the set up a governance structure and terms of reference for Project Control/ Steering/ and Working Groups to coordinate planning, design, construction works and investment in Pukekohe. Specific projects include: design and construction of the Pukekohe railway station/ car park and ride/ bus interchange, design and construction of a three year programme of streetscape revitalisation works, land development projects, art and place making initiatives, budget management and Local Board liaison and advise. General requirements included budget management and reporting to CAPEX Steering Group, procurement and preparation of media releases and communication materials.I also delivered projects that sit within the Flat Bush Transformation Project. Specifically I wrote the Flat Bush Infrastructure Coordination Plan and managed the design and construction of Stormwater Wetland B8B (10 year flood attenuation and water quality), the design of a 100 year flood attenuation dam.
