Co-founder of Bridge 5 Mill and the Fairfield Group of social entreprises, I'm an accomplished social entrepreneur, who helped to establish Debdale Eco Centre, Manchester Social Enterprise Forum and the Fuelling Manchester network. I've worked for The Ethical Property Company and helped to set up the Green Fish centre in Manchester.Over the last few years, I've dedicated the majority of my time to the Kindling Trust and its projects. My work at the Kindling Trust is focused on creating systematic change in the food system to make it truly sustainable. Through the Feeding Stockport partnership, I was instrumental in the Greater Manchester borough becoming one of only six UK cities to be funded through the Sustainable Food Cities Network. I've also helped facilitate the development of a Greater Manchester Sustainable Food Strategy. In late 2013, I spent five weeks in Australia sharing information on some of Greater Manchester’s pioneering co-operative food solutions in partnership with the Open Food Network. In late 2014, I rejoined the board of Trustees at MERCi - the founding charity of Bridge 5 Mill and have been instrumental in its merger with Fairfield Environmental Trust. In early 2016 I became a co-op member of Veg Box People - a workers co-op established by the Kindling Trust to run an organic veg box scheme in Manchester. In the Spring of 2016 I rejoined the board of Manchester Veg People - another co-op that the Kindling Trust helped establish.

TrusteeMerci Ltd Nov 2014 - Jun 201622A Beswick Street, Ancoats, Manchester, M4 7Hr.MERCi (affectionately known as Murky) was an independent charity (established in 1996) and wound down in May 2016. It established Bridge 5 Mill and I was involved originally in establishing it as Manchester's First Centre for Sustainable Living. Despite all the hard work of tenants, staff, volunteers and trustees it struggled to bring in enough income after the government's austerity programme began in 2009. I rejoined the board of Trustees in November 2015 to help turn the Mill around and with financial help from a few sister organisations and the dedication of the staff we began to see improvements in the service we provided and the number of users. In early 2016 after an EGM, the membership agreed that MERCi would merge with Fairfield Environmental Trust - a similar charity which is part of the Fairfield Group of social enterprises. At the end of May 2016 FET took ownership of the Mill and began an investment programme to support the staff (all former MERCi staff became employees of Fairfield), improve the Mill and crucially attract new tenants. The Mill is now run by Bridge 5 Mill limited. -
