Walt Campbell is a Senior at Arizona State University. He is majoring in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations and Fashion. Campbell will graduate from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication with experience as both a writer and a public relations practitioner. Much of Campbell’s experience in social media derives from his internship at BLERR Magazine, a start-up fashion publication, where he served as Lead Editor. His responsibilities included creating and reviewing content for Instagram, Twitter and TikTok, making copy edits, and conducting in-depth interviews. He also wrote a number of articles for the magazine, oversaw the production of the publication’s first issue, and organized the magazine's launch party. Throughout Campbell’s time at ASU, he has learned to create graphics, slideshows and videos, write press releases, create professional media kits and pitch stories, as well as write at both a public relations and a journalistic level. Campbell excelled in the Cronkite PR Lab, an esteemed professional program set in an agency environment. This PR Lab offers a real-life experience of working in an agency and prepares students for careers after graduating.As a freelance writer, he has pitched and developed compelling feature stories for student-led publications such as Downtown Devil and The Chic Daily, and has attended Phoenix Fashion Week as a fashion journalist.In addition to attending college, Campbell also works as a sales associate and blog writer at Phoenix General Store, a local boutique. Campbell manages the shop’s social media accounts, creating content for Instagram, as well as writing articles for the store’s online blog. This position has allowed Campbell to expand on his high level of confidence, interpersonal skills, and determined work ethic, while simultaneously furthering his appreciation for fashion and style.After receiving his bachelor’s degree, Campbell plans to utilize his journalism experience within the fashion industry as either a fashion journalist or an in-house public relations practitioner for a major fashion brand.
