Assist the National Underwriting Manager in all aspects pertaining to the underwriting department. The responsibilities included assisting with department pipeline management, Act liaison between Underwriting department and Sales department. Ensure the Underwriting department is compliant with company policies and procedures along with state and federal laws and lending regulations. Assist in supervisory duties for the Underwriting department. Resolve conflicts, take necessary disciplinary actions, and promote team building to enhance the team atmosphere by providing leadership and coaching. Second review of adverse loan files. Second signature for exception to company overlays. Approve, decline, or counteroffer loans within limits of assigned authority up to one million. Support underwriters to identify potential solutions/alternatives for difficult/denied loans. Maintain knowledge of underwriting guidelines and stay current with department requirements. Assist in measuring all mortgage loan submissions for underwriting decisions based on company quality control plans and investor/regulatory compliance. Provide prompt, quality service to the originating branches and correspondents/brokers in a positive and professional manner. Support the Underwriting Support / Scenario Help Desk.
